End of Week 11

Crystal introduced Social institutions today. Social institutions are a system of behavioral and relationship patterns that are densely interwoven and enduring, and function across an entire society. They order and structure the behavior of individuals by means of their normative character. We then watched a movie and took notes on it. The movie had three different individuals and focused on their life chances based upon the soical instituions in their life. Each of the three individuals ended up with a drastically different life than the other even though they all graudated from the same high school. The movie analyisis was a good exercise to show how much social institutions play a role in everyday life. WC:115
