Welcome - Week 1 Day 1
The first day of class is always interesting, to say the least. There are a lot of unknown factors that can lead to being anxious when participating in a new course. Many thoughts pop into a student’s head when they walk through the door. Who will be in the class or what will the professors teaching style be, will you have a good spot, so you don't have to crank your neck to get all the notes? There are a lot of unknown factors that can lead to anxiety. Most college students experience anxiety at some point in their education career. After our introductions to the class and finding out what Crystals expectations for the course were I was feeling very sure of myself, until she mentioned the blog. After creating this post I know that it very attainable to write 100 words after each class period.
Crystal introduced herself and informed us about her life and how she has gotten to the place that she is today. She was born in Taipei,Taiwan, worked 12 years as a social worker, language teacher, military instructor (now a retired captain), news reporter, congressional staff and government official in her native country. This semester is her 12th year teaching at CVTC. Previously Crystal worked one year at the Dunn County News, taught four years at UW-Stout and one year teaching arts at the Wayne State College. She has completed five majors and four minors, Crystal is a lifelong learner. As she mentioned multiple times in our first class period "knowlege is power". I have come to the conclusion that Crystal is a very determined person and wants her students to succeed, not only in her sociology course but to succeed in life.
